Bring a workflow, not just a feature list
A long feature grid rarely tells you how a system will feel on a busy day. Start with a representative loan and walk it from first look through underwriting, closing, a draw, a receipt, and payoff. Use fictional or appropriately sanitized data during evaluation.
The question is whether information stays connected. Can you see the terms behind the calculation? The document behind the condition? The event behind the balance? Can the next person on your team follow the same story?
Compare the unit you will actually pay for
Pricing may depend on seats, active loans, funded volume, modules, implementation, or third-party usage. A low headline number is not a complete operating cost.
Baseline’s public pricing page lists Essential at $995 per month for up to 50 active loans and defines active to include origination and servicing. Liquid Logics’ NOVA signup lists $399 per month per user. These are different pricing units and scopes, observed September 8, 2026; confirm current terms directly.
- Which loans count toward the allowance?
- How many team members need access?
- Which modules are included?
- What are the implementation and migration responsibilities?
- Which third-party charges or usage limits apply?
Test the less convenient cases
A clean on-time loan is a starting point. Also ask about a partial payment, a changed maturity date, a disputed fee, a revised budget, a duplicate receipt, and a payoff with unresolved activity.
You are looking for explicit states and a recoverable process. If a task fails, does the system preserve the work and explain what happened? If an action changes a balance, can the team follow the record?
Make migration part of the evaluation
Agree on the opening date, balances, source documents, and reconciliation before treating an import as complete. A successful upload does not establish that the book is ready to service.
Ask who validates the mapping, how exceptions are resolved, what gets retained, and what the acceptance evidence looks like. Discuss the process for leaving the service, too.
Choose an experience your team will use
Include the person who records payments, the person who reviews draws, and anyone responsible for reporting. A lender-facing dashboard and a borrower-facing submission flow need different perspectives.
AIRE’s approach is a considered workspace for the connected lending lifecycle. Explore the sample tour, then use your own operating requirements to decide whether it fits.
